one pretty thing: acorn coin purse ♥

Hi, and happy Sunday!
Today I'd like to share with you a Christmas present from my mom.

Paulette Rollo leather acorn coin purse

It's a hard leather coin purse in the shape of an acorn!
I absolutely love it.  It's by Paulette Rollo, who designs a lot of different leather goods.  She makes these coin purses in the shape of shells, hearts, apples, among others, but as you might remember from this post, acorns are one of my very favorite things.

Even though I've had this lovely little case for more than two months, I can't decide what to put inside.  I don't want to put it anywhere where it might get scratched by an errant key or damaged by rain or snow, so it's still empty at the moment.  I do admire it a lot though.  Maybe I'll use it to carry my stitch markers for knitting.  If you have an idea, let me know!

Thank you again to my mom for this wonderful gift-- I know I'll treasure my little acorn for years to come.

  1. Aww, that's such a cute purse! I dunno what it is about acorns, but everybody seems to love them (including me!). Leather is one of my favorite materials (I even considered buying an industrial leather sewing machine at a thrift store once so I could make cool purses myself but it would've taken up 2/3 of my room :D)
I'd probably just display it somewhere you see it often until you find a good use for it.

    1. Thank you so much! ♥ It's true, acorns are so cute and rounded and just so-- lovable! I lovvvve working with leather, too, which I definitely didn't think I would the first time I tried it. My Singer home sewing machine handles it perfectly with the right tools-- a Teflon presser foot, to prevent sticking, and a leather needle, which has a tiny blade on the end. You might not even need a huge industrial machine! If you decide to give it a try, let me know how it goes? :)

  2. That is probably the most adorable coin purse I've ever seen. Your mother obviously knows you very well, how wonderful! I'm sure you'll find the perfect thing to use it for. It may be fun to store little keepsakes in it?

    1. Isn't she the sweetest? My little acorn is from a shop called Milkweed (cutest name ever) in my hometown that always has the most beautiful assortment of unique and woodsy homewares and accessories and thick woolly socks. Curating the inventory must be like decorating a fairy cottage. I like the idea of keeping little bits and bobs and found treasures in the coin purse-- still useful, but not so likely to get the wear that it would if it was actually clipped to a bag. Thank you! ♥

  3. That is gorgeous! I will have to show this to my best friend because she will go crazy over the apple shaped one.

Maybe use it to keep jewellery in?

    1. Aw, thank you, Kelsey! I love the apple ones, too. The leather is hard, I think it's stretched over wood or maybe coconut shell, so it holds its shape perfectly. Jewelry is another excellent idea! If I put my acorn necklace in it, it will be like an acorn matryoshka.
